Acne is a very common skin condition, affecting women and men of all ages. Also known as pimples, acne can appear on the face and neck, back and shoulders. Although a serious problem, few people suffering from Acne Vulgaris seek medical advice. Usually they either try to fight acne with traditional means, such as well-known cosmetic creams (Pro Active, PhytoMe Acne Gel,DDF BP Gel 5% with Tea Tree Oil) and home remedies, or don't do anything, waiting for the pimples to disappear in time. Unfortunately severe acne leaves scars and it is very unpleasant especially for older people, because in old ages the skin cures slower after acne outbreaks.

Did you know that your toothpaste can help to reduce the swelling of your pimples? Apply some before you sleep and you will see the immediate effect the next morning.

Mix lemon juice with rose water. One lemon with same proportion of rose water will do. Apply it on your face and rinse it only after 30 mins. Constantly doing so will not only get rid of acne and pimples, but it also has the effect of lightening the skin blemishes.

Prepare a paste of sandalwood (chandan) powder with black gram (masoor) dal. It can be used on facial skin to treat the acne. Keep it overnight and wash it with cold water the next day.

Cucumber is one of the refreshing treatments used for the treatment of acne. It will make your skin look young. Blend the cucumber into a paste and apply it on the spots. Leave it for 30 to 45 minutes and then wash it off.

Another effective remedy is to make a paste from sandalwood and black gram. Use either milk or rose water as the base for the paste. Apply over the whole face, or just in the affected area, and leave it overnight. Wash your face clean with cool water in the morning. Sandalwood does a great job of reducing skin inflammation and irritation because it has a cooling effect.

Make a mixture of dried out and powdered pomegranates, apply it on acne areas of skin, leave it for the whole night, and rinse off right in the next morning. Do this practice for two weeks as you will be to find some amazing results.

Fresh up your skin with apple cider vinegar as this will be an excellent overnight home remedy for acne.

Application of the paste of tender neem leaves with turmeric powder helps in reducing the bacterial infection on the skin which is the root cause of all skin eruptions.

One should keep the scalp clean so as to avoid acne formation on the head. This could be done by shampooing the hair regularly.

Lemon juice can help to remove some of the dead skin cells and a balanced diet can give our body what it needs to encourage the healing process. Use these in balance with other natural methods and you might achieve limited success with home remedies for acne scars.
